Much like the enemy forces within it, Kingdom Rush: Frontiers marches down a well worn path, but the layered mechanics, bright dynamic level design and furiously fast gameplay keep the experience feeling fresh from start to finish.

Kingdom Rush Frontiers is addictive. Point Blank. The gameplay is super fun, and I loved the level system and the minor customization options available. The lack of a speed up feature is a huge miss. Like I said, most maps last a half hour. Failing at the last minute and having to replay everything just to get to that one spot was tedious. It was frustrating. Music is quite generic, but Kingdom Rush Frontiers quickly became the title to play while listening to podcasts. I like that. Kingdom Rush Frontiers is a tower defense game.

Kingdom Rush Frontiers builds a gaming stronghold worthy of defending the honour of the tower defense genre, but there are a couple of weak spots. The strategic elements ensure a real challenge is to be had as you get to grips with the many enemy waves heading your way. Map designs play an important role in making each level exciting, which is complemented by cool tower types and cleverly planned placement points, thus creating erection perfection.

Kingdom Rush: Frontiers is a good follow-up to the original game. It’s far more creative with enemies and protagonist characters, but also far more difficult. Regardless, the experience is more fun than not.

Kingdom Rush Frontiers is a classic Tower Defence game, that has been ported to the Nintendo Switch with all its charm, fun, enjoyable and frantic gameplay intact. If you were to buy Kingdom Rush Frontiers on mobile, all of the premium content such as the additional Heroes would be locked behind a paywall. That would be far more expensive in the long run than buying the full game on the Nintendo Switch.

Kingdom Rush Frontiers may bring the genre back to basics but it does everything so exceptionally well that you'll be hooked for hours.Kingdom Rush Frontiers gameplay video → Kingdom Rush Review Kingdom Rush Origins Review Exit the Gungeon Review Switch ★★★☆☆ Gamers have enjoyed entering the Gungeon for years but is it as fun coming out of as it is going in? Get your trigger finger ready. Back in 2016, I reviewed the fantastic Enter the Gungeon and last year, I took a look at the physical edition for Switch.

In short, this is a solid port. It’s well worth the dime if you’re looking to kill some time. Kingdom Rush is a solid franchise, and those who play it are forever wise.

Kingdom Rush isn’t even that great by tower defence standards. The towers are generic and bland, and enemy hordes are entirely predictable. There are some tower defence games that I would love to come to Switch, from that “golden era” where the genre was flying high – the Final Fantasy Tactics-themed Crystal Defenders or the samurai-and-Japanese-ink-art Mikado Defenders, for example.
