If you enjoy overhead twin-stick shooters and want to play a unique take on the genre then you'll absolutely love what Hellmut: The Badass from Hell has to offer. The bonus Space Invaders style arcade game is just the icing on the cake.Hellmut: The Badass from Hell gameplay video → Super Cane Magic Zero Review PlayStation 4 ★★★★☆ Silly cooperative games certainly fulfill a niche in the market yet Super Cane Magic Zero has enough charm to appeal to the masses. Super Cane Magic Zero allows up to 4 local players to go on a goofy adventure together complete with ridiculous scenarios, hilarious dialogue, and charming graphics.

Hellmut: The Badass from Hell is tense-filled roguelike experience with an intuitive generated map system that not only guarantees a surprise each time its campaign is played through, but an excuse to come back to the game again and again. While moving through dark and scary dungeons and killing endless monsters may sound like something that would get old fast, it's never an issue here.

It may not bring massive changes to the genre table, and it may rely on a tried and tested formula, but there’s no denying that it’s a solid experience that offers a few good hours of fun, plenty of replayability and comes ready for newcomers and veterans alike to get stuck into the madness.

Despite some spawning issues and the occasional technical hiccup, Hellmut: The Badass from Hell is a damn fine bullet-storm dungeon crawler. The game’s consistently fast pace, together with its non-stop action and its diverse content variety, collectively ensure that adrenaline is kept high, whilst repetition is kept at bay. Granted, this may not be the deepest game of its kind, functionally speaking, but it’s certainly one of the funnest. This game was tested and reviewed on Xbox One.

HELLMUT: The Badass from Hell is a wonderfully crazy and exciting 2D bullet-hell dungeon crawler with an eclectic mix of weapons and upgrades or transformations to play as. It’s hellish in its design but heaven to play, especially when you nail sections without taking damage or timing your powers just right. There is a surprising amount of depth here, with the balance between exploring for treasure and killing to reach your goal, or the choices you make in the store, all adding layers to what makes a very addictive and fulfilling shooter. A co-op mode for the main game or a difficulty setting would have been a good addition to get more players involved, rather than only targeting the more hardcore of gamers, but the game is still very appealing.

Hellmut: The Badass from Hell is a few steps short of being an all-around must-have roguelike shooter. The camera is zoomed in enough and just jerky enough that some enemies can be easily hidden from view. There's also the character unlocking process, which is only valuable if you plan on taking multiple successful runs through the game. With that said, the action is excellent, and the flaws aren't enough to stop the title from having that sort of magic that beckons you for one more run. Despite not being the first choice for a roguelike shooter, Hellmut is ultimately a good choice.
