GoD Factory Wingmen is a game where accessibility comes easy but mastery does not. Yet, the innate thrill in approaching the latter proves to be its own reward over the long-term as Nine Dot Studios sophomore effort proves to be its best, ably injecting new life into the space combat genre with innovative features and a real, loving focus on multiplayer gameplay and tactics. Top Game Moment: Screaming through the core of an enemy carrier and destroying its shield generator while partying like it's Star Wars: Return of the Jedi circa 1983. A muiltiplayer-focused effort that places a staunch premium on teamwork, GoD Factory Wingmen embraces a more arcade-style approach along the lines of the recent Strike Suit Zero than a bespoke, unapologetically in-depth space sim such as X-Wing Vs Tie Fighter.

GoD Factory: Wingmen is an absolute pleasure of a space shooter, in the shell of an arena game. Its easy to master controls and understandable customization designs are as complex as they are simple, all at once. It’s rare for a game to pull that double-sided edge off and have such a shiny display in the process of it as well.

The styling of the different ships is quite frankly amazing. From something akin to the Firelfy class from the TV series of the same name to a huge transformer like robot with guns in each hand there is nothing I don’t like about them.

GoD Factory: Wingmen may win the award for worst named game of 2014 thus far, but this naming blunder masks one of the smartest multiplayer team games of recent years. Layers of thoughtful design are married to tight, responsive, spontaneous space flight controls to make a four-versus-four online space shooter that’s both thrilling and satisfying in equal measure. VERY GOOD.
