CRITIK
Emma is a 2D puzzle platformer that revolves around a potent central mechanic: all the platforms and walls start disappearing when the player touches them. This creates a series of challenges around this idea. Also, the player only needs to focus on jumping and reacting to its environment as he runs automatically. The game is all about overcoming one-screen puzzles with skill and ingenuity. Emma aims to be a simple and enjoyable game that works around the concept of fading away, both mechanically and thematically through delicate storytelling. Emma tackles themes like loss (focused on memory loss) and the acceptance of who you are.

I ended up liking Emma more than I expected. Once I overcame some initial challenges I began to appreciate its design and message. With no difficulty option in the main story it’s hard to recommend this to everyone. This game does require some pretty precise platforming and attention which may frustrate some. But if you can get through it the message at the heart of this game is quite sweet.

EMMA: Lost in Memories may just be the most frustrating game that I played so far this year. With its clumsy controls and overly unforgiving stages that require many attempts to merely complete, I can't recommend this to anyone but masochists.E
