Through the Woods
Through the Woods is a third-person psychological horror game set in a forest on the western shore of Norway about a mother and her missing son. Through dynamic narration, you play the mother's re-telling of the events surrounding her son's disappearance in a setting heavily influenced by Norse mythology and Norwegian folk tales.

Will you like Through The Woods? Well, I love indie games that have a strong voice and really unusual tales to tell. Through the Woods has all of this and much, much, more with a brilliant, unusual story that is fun to be part of. It doesn’t shy away from the dark and tricky storylines which is brave, and should be admired. I think the gameplay lets the whole experience down though, because it doesn’t feel terrifying or interesting enough.

I enjoyed Through the Woods even though I’m sure there are quite a few people who won’t. This short adventure is driven by a neat narrative and great atmosphere even if the delivery isn’t always perfect and the graphics could use improvement. But the inclusion of Norse lore and interesting creatures made for a game that is very unique in its own right. Hopefully if there are more games based in this type of pantheon they’ll only get better from here.

Through the Woods is a great couple hour adventure taking you through a desolate yet lovely island filled with sorrow. The perspective of the mother was also well done in the tight third person and her tale that developed over the course of game was interesting.
