A fantasy adventure with tough-but-fair combat, a well crafted story and a punchy pixel art aesthetic, No Place For Bravery is the next ‘must play’ game in the 2D/dungeon-crawler renaissance. While it’s still not perfect, the game is much more stable now that it has received a patch and despite a few spotty frame rates, this is an easy title to recommend. No Place for Bravery is available now on Nintendo Switch (reviewed on Switch Lite) and PC via Steam. But Why Tho?

Thorn’s quest to save Leaf is exceptionally well-written, and the world of Dewr is one of the more enjoyable video game worlds I’ve explored in some time. Despite some minor quibbles with the combat and some of the world-building, No Place for Bravery is still an excellent game that players looking for a challenge are sure to enjoy. No Place for Bravery releases on September 22nd on Steam and Nintendo Switch. No Place For Bravery - Rating - 8.5/108.5/10 TL;DR Thorn’s quest to save Leaf is exceptionally well-written, and the world of Dewr is one of the more enjoyable video game worlds I’ve explored in some time.

No Place For Brave is an incredible top-down adventure that tells a touching story about the lengths one will go for family. Its weighty combat is challenging but fair which makes each battle a thrill. Although I did encounter the occasional bug which stifled the pace, this didn’t hinder what was a wonderful and touching experience.

Among the things there are also no place for in this title: Lack of skills, and unwillingness to be patient Too often you tend to see the term “Souls-like” get thrown around in games today for the wrong reasons.

No Place for Bravery is endearing if not exhausting. This broken world harbors countless deadly foes that players will have to rip and tear through. At times it may feel needlessly dour but through the muck and the mire is a beautifully visualized title that pulls no punches at its hardest junctures. But inviting difficulty sliders ensure that no hurdle is too sharp and that every challenge can be conquered, driving Thorn and the player ever-closer to salvation.

No Place for Bravery is another stellar soulslike for genre fans to add to their library on the Switch. By taking the best elements from Sekiro and translating those into a fast-paced, isometric ARPG with deep world-building and compelling narrative hooks, No Place for Bravery does more than enough to provide a title that stands out amidst a sea of samey competition.
