If you’ve been looking to get into Mutant Mudds or have been simply wanting a new retro platformer on Switch, there are few better options than Mutant Mudds Collection. With two already spectacular titles in Mutant Mudds Deluxe and Mutant Mudds Super Challenge, fans will spend hours plugging away at their immense (and rewarding) challenge. Throw in the solid Mudd Blocks, which is an out of the blue and pleasant surprise (and arguably better than 3DS puzzler Bomb Monkey), and not only is Collection a satisfying time to be had, it’s also a great value, to boot. Switch’s library is stuffed with great games, but don’t let this one pass you by. It’s easily up there with some of the best software on the system. Nintendojo was provided a copy of this game for review by a third party, though that does not affect our recommendation.

My time spent playing Mutant Mudds collection has been overwhelmingly positive. The collection offers a great mix of fun platforming at different levels of difficulty. Having all three games in one collection is certainly a great plus. If you get frustrated playing one game you can always take a break and switch (no pun intended) to the other.

Mutant Mudds Collection is a fantastic collection of two high quality platformers, both in one package. While the original Mutant Mudds Deluxe lacks the high quality level design that its sequel has, both games are lengthy, enjoyable experiences to 100%, and are well worth purchasing the Collection for that alone.

Mutant Mudds Collection gives Nintendo Switch owners the chance to own two fantastic platforming games in one handy, portable package, as well as a nice extra in the new puzzle game, Mudd Blocks. The difficulty of these games may well put a reasonable amount of players off - Mutant Mudds Super Challenge in particular is one nasty fiend – but the overall quality of the two original titles places this collection amongst the best within its genre that the eShop can offer. If you love platformers, and you don’t mind a hefty challenge, do yourself a favour and buy this game.

Overall, Mutant Mudds Collection is well worth its budget price tag. It is a killer title to have if you’re a retro-fan like myself, but it’s also worth the buy for its array of gameplay options. The collection as a whole was obviously given care, and the fact is made obvious by its sleek presentation. Its visuals are incredibly gorgeous, the unique chiptune sounds will have you jamming in no time, and the gameplay is perfect – Mutant Mudds Collection is a stand-out title on the Nintendo Switch eShop.

Mutant Mudds has seen ports to just about every console under the sun (with good reason), so I figured it’d only be a matter of time before it graced the Nintendo Switch. What I didn’t expect was to get Mutant Mudds, Mutant Mudds Super Challenge, and Mudd Blocks all in one convenient package. With the great gameplay of three games present and brand new leaderboards for each game, this is the ultimately collection for anyone interested in the Mudds franchise. The lack of stereoscopic 3D is the only blemish, but hardly enough to diminish an otherwise fantastic offering.

It’s a quality collection of games which combines fun and frustration in equal measure. The addition of Mudd Blocks is very welcome though not essential. If you love a good platform game, then this is a no-brainer and I can’t recommend it enough. If you are not so keen, this may be a little more frustrating than you’d like.
