Music Racer is a solid rhythm game with a lot of content for its low asking price, though it’s a shame the custom MP3 upload doesn’t work on consoles.

Music Racer has got an interesting premise, but the execution is somewhat lacking. Its generated setups could use some fine tuning, and the layout of each stage is detrimental to high level play. Players can feel the rhythm of the night with AbstractArt’s Music Racer.

It looks lovely and it plays fine, but without its headline feature it winds up largely uninspired.

But Why Tho?

Music Racer Ultimate is all flash and no fun. For a music game, the music is okay, but the game itself is not satisfying to play. The rewards aren’t rewarding, the levels are aggravating, and the menus and layout are confusing. This port needed way more time in the oven to ensure that its trip to Xbox would actually feel right at home, not a mobile game that feels like it’s just on a bigger screen. At least its achievements are easy to get. Music Racer Ultimate is available now on iOS, Android, PC, and Switch.
