Monster Slayers is a must buy if you are a fan of this genre. It is $9.00 on Steam and has DLC already out with more on the way. You can easily lose 20+ hours here if you allow yourself and that is only scratching the surface of the content that you can get into if you delve deeper. I do not know what the developers plans are moving forward but I will continue to support and play this game for as long as they release new content and continue with it.

If you’re a fan of deck building or dungeon crawlers then Monster Slayers is a must try. For the $9 price tag there is an insane amount of content and replayability. Even just beating the Harbinger a single time is worth the price of admission, let alone trying out all the classes and taking a shot at Legendary mode.

The amalgamation of RPG mechanics and deck building is sound, although neither component achieves the depth likely to be found in products dedicated completely to one or the other. But that lack of depth could also be a part of its appeal – you aren’t bogged down by lengthy tutorials or overcomplicated card mechanics, and instead are able to jump into the fray almost immediately.

Monster Slayers is a fun and deep adventure that lets the player decide how they want to approach it. Even with a complex battle system, the harsh difficulty curve may be enough to turn many players off once they’ve completed the first dungeon. At the end of the day, the sheer joy of building a deck that suits your own playstyle is what makes this game special. Monster Slayers is one game not to overlook, if you’re even remotely interested.

Monster Slayers is a fun game and highly addictive game with a Platinum trophy that will take you a ton of time to unlock since it asks that you complete the game with every single character class, which pretty much means you need to unlock all permanent upgrades to be able to stand a chance. The random luck element of this one is high since depending on the cards you get from chests and when leveling up you will have an easier or harder time beating each dungeon and making short work of the bosses in your path.

Several times over the last week or so, I’ve considered whether to sit down with Nier, Horizon, Torment, or Gravity Rush 2. It’s a tough decision. They’re worlds you fall into. Each of them is the sort of game you play for several hours at a time. You don’t boot them up lightly. Which one have I chosen? Well, before I commit, how about running a character real quick in Monster Slayers? Oops, I’ve just fallen into a world. A deck-building utopia.

Considering Monster Slayers lacks a proper story, doesn’t look anything special and has a fair few issues in terms of navigating the menus and such, you’d think I’d be putting you off it. Far from it though, because the card and class variety, decent range of enemies and easy to pick up gameplay are spot on; they are integral parts to an incredibly addictive experience.
