If you're looking for a short, fun, single-player romp through magical realms on your PC, this game is a great choice to satisfy that urge. And don't hesitate to buy it just because you think your computer isn't "good enough" for a game with decent graphics.

This is a single-player title that would do well to introduce newer players to the genre, but will give veterans a nice old-school experience.

Avencast manages to be derivative and innovative at the same time, and the result leaves the game somewhere on the lower side of average.

For everything that it does right in a given area, it does something wrong. The graphics, for instance, aren't too spectacular in terms of textures, but the flame effects on torches are staggering, and the spell effects are genuinely some of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring I've ever seen.
