Marvel's Spider-Man's first DLC as part of The City that Never Sleeps campaign was an outstanding opening that has players teaming up with the lovely and deceptive Black Cat and ending with a bang. Now the adventure continues in Turf Wars where Hammerhead attempts to secure control over New York using whatever means possible. Turf Wars doesn't carry the same charm as The Heist but still delivers a sold penultimate finale with a shocking cliffhanger. Turf Wars starts after the events of The Heist, Hammerhead has begun his assault against NY and seeks to take control.

Compared to the first DLC, Turf Wars is much more combat focused. Overall, I didn’t like it as much as the first DLC, not because combat isn’t fun, but it’s gotten quite repetitive and tedious. Still, I suspect part three, arriving next month, will strike a better balance overall, as it completes the City That Never Sleeps story arc.

Turf Wars definitely lacks the spark of The Heist. Not only is it short and a bit lacking in ideas, it genuinely feels like a middle-of-the-road DLC that bridges a thrilling beginning and what will almost certainly be an exciting end.

This DLC content comes off feeling a little 'more of same.' It doesn't introduce anything terribly new, and feels like it has less content and depth than the first chapter. I'm holding out hope that the third chapter can wrap this up neatly. * The product in this article was sent to us by the developer/company. In a past life I worked with Interplay, EA, Harmonix, Konami, and a number of other developers.
