Life is Strange is much more than the sum of its parts, equally absorbing forcing us into impossible choices or capturing the joy of the mundane. It's not perfect, but you won't forget it in a hurry. The emotional potency and maturity of the story is missing from so many of its peers, and that is undoubtedly worth celebrating. The game has a few clever puzzles and a missing girl subplot that assumes greater importance in later episodes. The performances of Hannah Telle and especially Ashly Burch as the dysfunctional duo are sharply observed and often moving. The graphics or visual design are not perfect, but the scenes between Max and Chloe recreate that feeling of magical moments shared with someone for whom we deeply care. The final choice has almost divided players right down the middle, determined by your feelings about that central relationship, and how you were able to subtly shape it with your responses throughout the story. Overall, Life is Strange is a powerful and affecting portrayal of teenage friendship that is not easily forgotten.

Like the previous episodes, the game continues to be a rollercoaster of emotions offering laughs, tender sweetness, and tragedy with little warning. With the game’s characters and community happenstances firmly grounded in reality, Life Is Strange is easy to connect with.

With the power to rewind time and choose what happens it always comes with a price; it could be good or bad, but in the end it will always affect us. Life is Strange has shown that in a spectacular way, and I highly suggest it to anyone reading this review.

Dontnod created a stroke of genius with the ending of Episode 3: Chaos Theory, leaving an open-ended cliffhanger that is nothing short of the best jaw-dropping conclusion to any episodic title to date. The music, pacing, writing and voice acting surpass all expectations set for the series so far, providing enough substance for Life Is Strange to become a serious contender for GOTY.
