CRITIK
Four Sided Fantasy is a wordless, seamless experience where you use screen wrap to solve puzzles in ways you never thought about before. Remember in Pac-Man how you can go off one side of the screen and "wrap" to the other? In Four Sided Fantasy, the player has the ability to toggle this screen wrap on and off at any time. Each new season in the game brings a new twist to screen wrap. Just as you think you’ve mastered a screen wrap mechanic, the world will change its rules and present a new way for you to look at the confines of your screen.

Four Sided Fantasy is a brilliantly complex puzzle game. Now this might not be the game for everyone and a few will give up after the first hurdle, but that would be a shame because it has so much more to offer. The design, sound and concept are original and unique, whilst the price is perfect and makes it well worth a punt. The running time is decent, but it could have possibly been a bit longer because after a couple of hours, it’s pretty much over.

It’s beautiful, it’s seamless, it’s fun. Behind the minor bugs and limited replayability is a truly unique fascinating experience that’s easy on the eyes and the ears. Lupo Land really nailed what a 2D puzzle-platforming short-game should be. REVIEW CODE: A complimentary Sony Playstation 4 code was provided to Brash Games for this review.

At the very least, Four Sided Fantasy is a welcome addition to the flourishing pool of indie puzzle platformers, and is yet more proof that there’s still plenty of life left in the genre.

Four Sided Fantasy isn’t the most memorable thing you’ll play, but there is enjoyment to be had. Each new mechanic that is introduced is smartly implemented, and it feels as if every possible puzzle combination has been achieved throughout gameplay. Four Sided Fantasy is pretty to look at and listen to and many of its puzzles are cleverly put together and tough to solve. However, it's very short and afflicted by many technical problems.

I found the screen lock and wrap mechanics repetitive at times, and I definitely wished for a story and greater meaning from the adventure. Still, considering the $9.99 price, puzzle platforming fans might still want to give this fantasy a shot. See on the Xbox Store (opens in new tab) Xbox One review code provided by the publisher.
