The board is beautifully designed with fun animations and sounds as well as music. Dozens of different cards and traits are available, so gameplay never gets stale – it is simply a relaxing and entertaining way to spend several hours. Grab Evolution if you love board games and are looking for a new fantastic challenge.

If you like card and board games, physically or digitally. You would be doing yourself a disservice by passing up Evolution. Its mechanics are tight and fun and the digital version brings it some additional charm and the ability to play whenever you want against well-crafted AI players, or folk from around the world online. Well worth the price. A key was provided for GideonsGaming by North Star Digital via Indieboost.com. Like Card games? Check out my review of Slay The Spire! If you enjoy this content, consider supporting it via my Creator Store or Kofi page! Pros: - Gameplay is the same as its physical version, which is fun, tactical and well balanced. - Lengthy campaign mode offers various challenges - Well done interactive learning experience. - Online multiplayer and well crafted AI with different skill levels and personalities. Cons: - Doesn’t fully take advantage of its digital nature.

But Why Tho?

Evolution is an exciting and unique board game with a little bit of everything when it comes to playing solo and competing with others near and far. It’s a great game to add to your library if you’re missing that connection that board games bring when we’re all together. Evolution is available on Android, iOS, PC, and Nintendo Switch Evolution - 8/10 TL;DR Evolution is an exciting and unique board game with a little bit of everything when it comes to playing solo and competing with others near and far.

Evolution translates well into a digital experience, even though the Switch port is lacking in quality.

Once I got over the initial hump and learned its systems, Evolution genuinely surprised me with its depth of strategy and breadth of content. The Switch version leaves a lot to be desired in terms of performance, and for now, despite my usual misgivings of the platform, I’d honestly recommend the mobile version. But if Evolution wants to survive on Switch in the wilds of the eShop, it would be wise to take a queue from nature and find a way to adapt.

For me, by the time I encounter my third bug, my time in Evolution has come to an end. With my interest already waning, these glitches are the final nail in the coffin. To be fair, I can imagine there are plenty of people out there who might love this game, but I can’t recommend it over the other quality board game ports that are available. Once the small issues are ironed out, Evolution could fill-in a niche spot for board game fanatics, but as it is even diehard fans would be hard pressed to ignore the problems.
