Unfortunately, there’s no cross-play in sight, which seems like a gargantuan missed opportunity with the recent Console releases. The Steam version is by far the one with the most active playerbase though, so if you play here, then you’re in for a good time, especially if you have friends willing to join your lobby. Add custom levels and worlds that the Steam Workshop provides, and you have an insane amount of multiplayer replay value that makes this one of the best computer games I’ve ever played online.

Regardless of these minor faults, Golf With Your Friends is a fun, colorful way to experience minigolf in the comfort of one’s own home, either alone or with a group of, well, friends. There is a ton of variety in both courses and game types, the mechanics are simple to pick up and the game’s in-engine physics simulate the feel of a real golf ball (or hockey puck) quite well for the most part. For those who wish to hit the links while on lockdown, or just looking for a fun party game, Golf With Your Friends packs a lot of replay value for such a relatively low price. At the end of the day, Golf With Your Friends is a fantastic package that is extremely accessible with its large breadth of customization options for both local and online play. It has a lot of content to experience, and while I can’t say I will spend much time with it by myself, I know that it has now become a staple game to pull out at any gathering.

Golf With Your Friends is easy to pick up but difficult to master, like all the best party games. As someone who struggles to find putters big enough for me at mini-golf courses and who has a nagging injury, Golf With Your Friends is an excellent alternative to the real thing. With the heavy focus of online multiplayer and the title being available day one on Game Pass, it’s a great way for Team17 and Blacklight Interactive to bring more people together during these pressing times. If you and your friends are Game Pass subscribers and are looking for a chill game to get competitive on, this is an easy download.

Tee up, because Golf With Your Friends is on par with the best golf games. Channeling your inner caddy with several other players is as fun as you make it, with mode customization that can modify gravity, bounciness, and tons of other factors. Dressing up your spherical friend is also delightful - seeing balls wearing cowboy hats and scuba masks defy sports game conventions. Despite some frustrating map designs and distractingly hollow early 2016 graphics, Golf With Your Friends scores a birdie in my book.
