It might not live up to its inspiration, but Doublehit Games have gotten pretty damn close. Some slight stodginess on the controls can lead to unwarranted failure at times, but it’s a small slight on an other wise charming, dark, and enthralling puzzle adventure that gives those heart strings a good old tug. This game was tested and reviewed on PC (via Steam).

Eternal Hope is an interesting yet short game. Players will be able to finish it in the span of a single playthrough if they so choose, but it is more than worth it. Ti'bi's quest to save the love of his life is a noble one, and it's hard to watch the lengths that he is willing to go to in order to make his dream a reality even while cheering him on. Eternal Hope is a wonderful indie title that players will find themselves thinking about for days after they finish it. Eternal Hope is a nicely played-out visual story with some great ideas and a lovely gaming technique which lets you swap instantly between two different realities. There are some problems with checkpointing and the accuracy in terms of platforming isn’t as tight as it possibly should be, but that rarely takes away from such a clever little game.

What Eternal Hope lacks in originality of its gameplay it makes up for in heart. It’s a story of love, loss and redemption. Ti’bi, like a lot of us, is just struggling to keep moving on and moving forward. Clever dual dimension gameplay and a simple but emotional story make this a great little game if you want a heartfelt adventure to get lost in for a few hours.

Eternal Hope is a dark and bleak, 2D puzzle platformer that takes you on an emotional rollercoaster that will stick with you for a long time. It is incredibly short, but looks and sounds great during its brief stay.

Eternal Hope is a fascinating game that favours style over substance. Whilst the narrative is lofty and ambitious, the short playtime and repetitive puzzles dock it marks for me. However, that’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy my time with Ti’Bi. The heartwarming story and the bold design are more than enough to make me swoon. If you love puzzle platformers and striking aesthetics, this wonderful indie title will stay in your mind for days. Eternal Hope is out now on Steam. This review of Eternal Hope was completed on PC.
