It's kind of like a junior sandbox approach that younger gamers will enjoy because they can just trundle around without crashing or waiting for loads and older kids will love because it allows them to explore a large area and find characters and items that they'll recognize from the movie. There are 30 different events in the story mode (which in itself comes in two different flavors, one of which is shorter and simpler to make it easier for the little guys), and thankfully it's not just a bunch of races with different talking cars.

If you have younger ones that liked the movie, or Pixar movies (even if they haven't seen the film), then Cars is probably a good and pretty safe purchase option which will keep them (and you) amused for a while.

The game does include a main story mode that will last the average player over 10 solid hours, as well as an arcade mode where gamers can relive any of the races or mini-games at their leisure. Cars really becomes a balancing act in the end, and it will be up to the individual players to decide if the sum is greater or weaker than its parts.
