CRITIK
Beyond Contact is a fiercely formidable survival game, inspired by the art and style of pulp science-fiction comics, the moral dilemmas of contemporary science-fiction films, and the unforgiving gameplay of survival genre classics. Taking place on the often mysterious and always deadly, procedurally-generated, alien world of Ketern, Beyond Contact features exploration and discovery, a robust system of research and crafting, intuitive base building and defense, farming and creature feeding, narrative-driven objectives to save the inhabitants of the planet, and enough flora, fauna, extreme weather, and environmental hazards to kill even the toughest players 1000 times over... and trust us if the planet gets the chance, it will.

In conclusion, Beyond Contact may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it has plenty to offer for those who are new to survival games or simply looking for a sci-fi adventure with a distinctive visual twist. If you’re new to survival games or just love the sci-fi aesthetic, it’s definitely worth a shot. But for survival game veterans, it might feel a bit too simple or uninteresting. However, I still encourage others to try Beyond Contact for themselves and see what they think about it. Happy gaming!

If you can tolerate the controls, then Beyond Contact does have a fair amount of content with more promised on the way to give players plenty of hours to sink their teeth into. However those issues are deep and hard to ignore and console players should definitely avoid this game. Beyond Contact was reviewed on PC using a code provided by Playcorp.

There are lots of survival systems at play in Beyond Contact, but due to the poor functionality of the UI a lot of those systems aren’t fun. While I did enjoy the actually base building, and research systems for upgrading gear and tools my constant fight with the UI and bugs just marred each of my play sessions with the game. If players can deal with the controls, the developers are promising more planets to explore. Those that prefer the mouse and keyboard might have a better time with this one than I did with the controller.
