The gameplay may lack the Quality of Life improvements possessed by modern games, but Battlezone ‘98 Redux is a faithful restoration of a true gaming classic. Improved visuals and Steam Workshop support are welcome additions, making it a blast from the past worth revisiting.

It’s fun and frantic, and has plenty of replayability. It just happens to sound poor and look dated. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, especially when the strategy elements came into play. Battlezone 98 Redux (Reviewed on Windows) This game is great, with minimal or no negatives. It’s fun and frantic, and has plenty of replayability.

Battlezone 98 was a classic and Redux is a pretty good offering to old fans and new players alike. TOP GAME MOMENT There was nothing quite like seeing the pilot eject out of a destroyed enemy tank to float safely down to the planet where we were happily waiting with hands on the forward throttle.

Battlezone 98 Redux prevails because it keeps the identity of the original, without alienating any modern audiences. The game shows its age in terms of its graphics, its controls, and its story. But the timeless blend of action and strategy are what makes this game stay fresh, and with the strategy genre becoming stale with each new release, perhaps this remaster is just what it needs to revitalise it. This is the kind of game where the people who are going to play it and love it already know they are going to play it and love it. If you have treasured memories of liberating Venus from the filthy capitalist pig-dogs in 1998, feel free to call me an asshole and just go and enjoy the game.
