Behind every box office hit and Hollywood star is a movie mogul who makes it happen. In The Movies, that mogul is you. Create your own studio from the ground up. Direct your own movies and call the shots on budgets, actors, locations and more. From script to screen, will your films be smash hits or break the bank? It's all up to you, baby.

The Movies takes Tycoon-style gameplay and brings it to a new level of polish and immersion, not only delivering addicting and challenging gameplay, but the means to create some funny movies to share with friends, too.

We're very impressed with this enormous new simulation game, despite the fairly steep learning curve. We're also fans of classic Hollywood movies, so we enjoyed jumping back nearly a century to outdoor, sunlit movie sets and hand-cranked cameras of the silent-film era to launch our studio.

Despite some minor problems, The Movies breaks new ground in the sim genre by putting business elements together with people-sim elements to create a wholly unique experience. The creative element of being able to create your own films (and even record your own dialogue with a microphone) adds something to The Movies that no other game of its kind has even attempted.

The inclusion of the ability for people to make their own movies will surely spark a number of creative movies with endless possibilities, especially with the potential of future additional downloadable content. I personally can't wait to see the creative juices at work out there to see what people come up with.
