Terminator: Resistance Enhanced surprised me, it was a solid FPS with incorporated stealth, survival and crafting mechanics, including lore and references from the first two iconic movies. The new enhanced edition offers a smooth 60fps with a whole host of visual improvements, making the game even more fun to play and precise to control. The Infiltration mode finally lets you see the world from the eyes of Arnold, although I would have liked more from this mode – maybe the future DLC will expand upon it? If you like The Terminator and you’ve not yet played this game, you’re missing out on a hidden gem that isn’t anywhere near as bad as the critics initially made it out to be.

Terminator: Resistance Enhanced is a shockingly competent title that deeply respects its source material (in some ways, even better than the producers of the latest Terminator movies), despite being janky and somewhat unpolished. You can clearly notice the developers love the franchise and worked hard in order to deliver the best they could with the limited resources at their disposal. It barely showcases what the PS5 is capable of in terms of graphics, but it’s still a nice improvement over its last-gen counterpart.

Terminator: Resistance Enhanced is undoubtedly an improved version of the original game, but it’s not transformative. Needless to say, if you’ve already played the game on PS4 or Xbox One there’s little reason to pick it up unless you’re a devout Terminator fan who wishes to play through it again. You’ll no doubt have a more enjoyable time, too. It’s those who have yet to dive into what is perhaps one of the best Terminator games of all time that will get the most out of this enhanced edition, though they should still temper their expectations. The core of Terminator: Resistance Enhanced is still scrappy and old-fashioned – it now just has a prettier façade.
