Staxel provides a fun, zen farming and life simulator that replicates the visuals of Minecraft, and the premise of Stardew Valley. There is much to uncover and it could be everyone’s new favourite farm to milk cows, grow crops and build abodes, whilst making friends along the way. Staxel is available on Nintendo Switch (reviewed) on September 23rd. Developer: Plukit Publisher: Humble Bundle Disclaimer: In order to complete this review, we were provided with a promotional copy of the game.

Staxel is a delightfully chilled crafting adventure. If you are looking for a relaxing game to sink hours into then Staxel is worth adding to your gaming library. A good entry point for gamers new to this genre but I’m not sure it’s enough to pull gamers away whose hearts are fully invested in other competitors. What Staxel does, it does with sunshine and smiles which is something many of us sure need these days. Final Verdict: I Like it a Lot Staxel is currently available on PC but will soon release to Switch at the end of September 2021.

Staxel is a farming simulation title that focuses on both community-building and crafting. It incorporates elements from Minecraft with its art style and block system as well as Animal Crossing with the emphasis on collectables and creating a marketplace for fish and bugs. Does the title provide the getaway I wanted? Find out in this Rapid Review. The first thing I noticed when initially launching the game was the non-playable characters.

Despite its fiddly interface and a farming side of things that’s a bit underwhelming, Staxel’s open-ended nature and creative potential make it an enjoyable outing in blocky rural life.At the very least, it shows the potential in this idea of a life sim block-building game: even if it doesn’t get the balance quite right, creative freedom and the laid-back, satisfying rhythm of farm life go hand-in-hand.

Staxel offers some fun gameplay, but it retreads a lot of familiar ground in the process, and nothing about it stands out as unique or exciting. Fans of the genre might like it, but don’t expect any innovation here.
