Miitopia
Since the dawn of ever, warriors have banded together to fight evil. Now… Mii characters based on your favorite people must unite to do turn-based battle and save Miitopia! Cast them in roles across the kingdom, manage friendships, and give them jobs with distinct stats, abilities, gear, and a custom look. Then behold as awesomeness unfolds! Guide your team of Mii characters on a quest to defeat the Dark Lord and restore the stolen faces of the citizens of Miitopia. As you watch with bated breath, Mii characters will mingle over food, camping, exercise, sleeping arrangements, and yes, combat! In these wild, yet traditional RPG battles, your party’s relationships affect the outcome. Enemies attack while you explore the world map, which is littered with hidden paths and treasures. The new Mii customization options and the horse editor are both whimsical strokes of genius, and they feel right at home in what was already a very enjoyable outing. There are just a few extra things I wish would have been added and and others I think could use some tightening up, but all in all, this new version of Miitopia is worth your time.

Originally releasing on the Nintendo 3DS back in 2016, the quirky RPG game from Nintendo is back and better than ever after being remastered for the Nintendo Switch. Is Miitopia worth diving into? Or should it have stayed in the past? Let’s find out! It’s All About Mii! We all remember the Mii’s that have followed us across our Nintendo consoles, don’t we? Numerous lifeless faces made to imitate ourselves that serve no real purpose except being there.

Miitopia on Switch is a fantastic conversion from the 3DS and does an admirable job at enhancing the experience. The jump up in graphics is welcome, but the biggest improvement to the experience as a whole lies in its Mii integration. Having so much customization for the cast thanks to a robust online selection of fan creations allows the story to be goofier and funnier than it could be on its own, and the various absurd situations the cast is placed in help provide a lot of comedy. It’s basic as an RPG, but the execution of the basic combat system is good and it features modern quality-of-life improvements like auto-battle and fast-forward to keep the pacing high. If you’ve been craving a silly, fun RPG that isn’t too difficult and offers a lot of variety, Miitopia is a must-buy.
