Overview

The first of 3 DLCs that follows a new character, The Runaway Kid, during the events of the main game. "Others lead the escape but the Kid drops down into the Depths of the Maw. Little does he know that this murky place is home to The Granny - abandoned to decay and rage she will let no-one go. He must struggle on if he wants to survive, leap from floating debris to avoid being pulled into the treacherous waters, and find a way to create a path through the depths."

Hot on the heels of Little Nightmares came the first of three DLC expansions, ‘The Depths’. Part one focuses on a young faceless boy (the so-called Runaway Kid) as he attempts to escape his horrifying fate upon the Maw. What follows below are my thoughts on the expansion and these may include spoilers. The Runaway Kid finds himself below the bustling working kitchens of the Maw where we played as Six and in the sewers underneath.

It took me an hour to make my way through The Depths, but I’d imagine more clever players could manage it in a little more than half that. While this isn’t an especially robust or full-featured expansion, it fits perfectly within the world of the main game. Anyone charmed or chilled by Little Nightmares will find more to love here, as well as some images sure to keep them up at night. Disclosures: This game is developed by Tarsier Studios and published by Bandai Namco.

If the tense run-and-jump sections of the base game were appealing, and the thought of a few more jump scares sounds right up your street, then dropping a few quid for another hour's worth of intense action is certainly well worth it.

If you enjoyed Little Nightmares, this is for you, however, it isn't quite as engaging or as interesting this time around.
