With its near-flawless design, Insane Robots is one of the best indie titles of this generation without a doubt. Pros: - Deep gameplay design. - Excellent presentation. Cons: - Too many loading screens. Insane Robots will be available on July 13 on Xbox One for $19.99. See on Microsoft Store (opens in new tab) Brendan Lowry is a Windows Central writer and Oakland University graduate with a burning passion for video games, of which he's been an avid fan since childhood.

Insane Robots is an amazing example of how to ease players into a genre without demanding too much of a learning curve, yet also being deep enough to satisfy the players that want to strategize at a much higher level. A bunch of smaller ideas come together to make a great experience, one you’d be insane to pass by.

Insane Robots is an excellent card battler that doesn’t demand too much from the player. Perhaps its greatest achievement, however, is how it manages to blend together so many simple and fun ideas to produce a compelling and diverse experience. With its abundant loading screens to the side, Insane Robots provides a vibrant and energetic journey that never loses its focus or charm. This game was tested and reviewed on Xbox One.

Insane Robots is a fun game with strategy packed into it. It may seem a little childish at first glance, but when you enter the world of the insane, there is nothing adolescent about it. Here we have a turn-based game with energy tokens gained every turn. It reminds me of Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links, but with more in depth game play. The presentation is beautiful.

Overall Insane Robots is a well presented, fun little card battler. Its simplicity makes it an ideal game to start with if you’re new to card games, and the difficulty curve is spot on meaning you’ll be continuously challenged until the end and beyond. Whilst a multiplayer mode is available, given the lack of player base, you should view this as a single player game. However, the story could have done with some more depth to make the game a true standout; in fact, I would happily waive the multiplayer aspect for some better lore.

They say the Tetris Effect happens when you start seeing Tetris blocks everywhere, but I'm starting to see Insane Robots chips and circuitry wherever I go. Does that mean I'm addicted?
