CRITIK
Indigo 7 is a color-based single-player and multiplayer game. As you follow the plot through comic-style cinematics, you’ll face different battles and unlock a lot of single-player and local PVP modes that tell the rest of the story. The match rules vary in each mode, but the challenge always stays the same: choose a number of colors to use and make the board yours before your opponent does!

Indigo 7: Quest for Love’s puzzle formula is engaging and manages to be a mix of easy to learn, but tricky to master. It’s not an all-time great game, but it’s well-crafted and has a lot of heart. The comedy hits far more than it misses and the story mode is a riot to see unfold and use as a learning tool. Given how great the experience is with multiplayer, it’s a shame online play isn’t featured — but hopefully that’s something that can be added in later on. As it stands, Indigo 7 a great game and a fantastic value for the money.

Those less experienced with the genre may not enjoy it as much, as the difficulty and complexity ramps up considerably as you go. I can’t say I found myself loving the game at any point, but its raw enthusiasm sure made me want to. Still, love isn’t everything. I liked Indigo 7, and perhaps that’s enough. SwitchArcade Score: 3.5/5 World’s End Club ($39.99) The talent behind this game includes people who worked on titles like Root Double, Danganronpa, and Zero Escape, and if you come in expecting something that rises to that level you’re going to be very disappointed.

Get ready to be zapped back to the 90s with Indigo 7: Quest for Love. This colourful hexagon puzzle game has an incredible art style and a genuinely funny coming-of-age story filled with great characters to meet and new ‘foes’ to defeat. Don’t just enjoy this alone as the multiplayer can be played with up to three friends as you compete against each other in a variety of fast-paced puzzle modes. Indigo 7: Quest for Love is an earnest, enjoyable attempt at a new puzzle game. It’s fun, it’s quirky, the art style is endearing, and the gameplay is solid. Honestly, I’d be giving this game a higher score if it didn’t have some bugs and issues that pop up here and there.

Indigo 7 Quest for Love is ok. The story is fun and charming and the puzzle mechanics work well in solo mode. Throw in a CPU and there’s suddenly an unbalanced difficulty level that’s just too frustrating. The addition of local multiplayer could still entice some players.

Puzzle games that try something new are pretty rare, so Indigo 7 gets some brownie points. But those points are mostly squandered by too much randomness, duff game modes, a vacuous story and a combo system that files away the fun. There’s a decent multiplayer puzzler tucked away in the corners of Indigo 7: Quest For Love, but this is mostly a failed experiment with only a few interesting findings.

I applaud Indigo 7: Quest For Love for trying something different. It’s a fun enough puzzle game that fans of Tetris and Puyo will be interested in, and its presentation is charming and eye-catching. Sadly it’s let down by a poorly thought-out scoring system, which is likely to bring any enjoyment of the game to a premature halt.
