CRITIK
Heavy Rain is a cinematic psychological thriller from game developer Quantic Dream exclusively for the PlayStation 3. Dealing with a range of adult themes, the game revolves around a sophisticated plot and strong narrative threads that explore a complex moral proposition. You assume the role of multiple characters with very different backgrounds, motivations, and skills in a world where each player decision affects what will follow.

Heavy Rain is very much the kind of game I like to play; it’s smart, interesting, different and highly focused. Cage might be a one-of-a-kind game director and thinker, and I do wish more developers paid attention to how he approaches his storytelling.

Newcomers should give it a shot on the PS4, while those who already played through it might want to give it another go and see it look better than ever before.

The PS4 is now fully loaded for all the interactive drama adventure genre games you could want. I would probably put Until Dawn at the top of the list of games in the genre, but Heavy Rain still holds a red balloon in my heart. While the voice acting isn’t as good as Beyond: Two Souls, the story and chilling score soundtrack are top notch (and as I mentioned earlier the game is still visually stunning).
