CRITIK
It's everything you've seen in your favorite anime fights: fly fast and smash your friends in the face until their expressions go all wonky; make them shoot off into collapsing buildings, krakens, killer cotton candy, or in space. Ram skyscrapers, whales and asteroids into your enemy, then fly towards them before they wake up and unleash over-the-top super moves. It's all about the joy of punching.

Fly Punch Boom is a refined, fun multiplayer experience with a simply competent single player mode as a sweetener. The high flying action can be a little hard to make out when played on the Switch in handheld mode and is best played on a TV.

You're not ready for Fly Punch Boom. No really, you're not. You might think you were born to play a game that essentially throws you into an anime royal rumble, but neither your eyes nor your reactions are up to the task. Not yet. It's going to take time to acclimatise to Fly Punch Boom's level of madcap hyper-kinetic arena-brawler action. Thankfully, it's well worth the effort, and you'll have a lot of fun in the process. Imagine a game of Smash Bros.

Fly Punch Boom: First Impact! is chock-full of pure kinetic energy, but the rock-paper-scissors-style combat doesn’t quite read the room. There is plenty of over-the-top action to be found here, but don’t be surprised if you feel there’s a bit too much luck involved with its proceedings. Over-the-top action meets rock-paper-scissors in Jollypunch Games’ new fighter Fly Punch Boom: First Impact! A taste of things to come, should players get fired up and ready to throw down? Fly Punch Boom: First Impact! Review More often than not fighting games don’t need any sort of justification for their bouts, but there is some lore to be found in Fly Punch Boom: First Impact! The cast and crew are made up of Punchies, which are immortal sexless beings that reproduce through combat. If that sounds strange to you, it only gets weirder from there.

Fly Punch Boom is a fun multiplayer game that will keep you and your friends entertained. Although lacking a lot of variety for a single-player campaign, playing with a group of friends will bring laughter and frustration (the good kind). With a unique take on the genre, JollyPunch has created a title that is accessible yet tough to master. So, if you’re looking for a new fighting game that doesn't follow the formula, then Fly Punch Boom is certainly worth your time.
