The game is basically a time consuming, laid back simulator like Powerwash Simulator but with a more thrilling vibe.

Firefighting Simulator - The Squad is a great representation of what it takes to be a firefighter, and the effective tutorial guarantees that any player should be able to figure out how to succeed at any mission in the game. I’d love to get a full squad together and tackle a house fire together with maximum efficiency, but the difficulty I had in finding a squad takes a lot of the wind out of Firefighting Simulator’s sails. This is the ideal form of a simulator game for me, but it’s sadly near impossible to play it under ideal circumstances.

If you’re interested in the idea of fighting fires and are open to playing with others online, I think you’ll have a good time with Firefighting Simulator – The Squad. It plays well and figuring out how to work together to put out a fire is a change of pace from the usual multiplayer fare. If you’re planning to go it alone, it’s a slightly tougher call. With the AI squad not being very helpful, things take a lot longer and the missions can start to feel just a little tedious as a result. Still, that core idea and its implementation has a fair bit of water in the hose. SwitchArcade Score: 3.5/5 A Boy and His Blob: Retro Collection ($9.99) One thing I’ve really enjoyed about this generation of gaming is that we’re seeing more than the usual classic games resurface.

Firefighting Simulator: The Squad takes an underrepresented concept and delivers a rousing co-op experience. Despite its name, the game doesn’t get too bogged down in details, making for an entertaining gameplay loop that’s oddly relaxing – despite the intense scenarios on display. Some shoddy AI and repetition mean we wouldn’t recommend it solo, but there’s undeniable fun to be had with friends.

While there aren’t many alternatives for trying to experience the life of a firefighter, this is hardly a polished experience Simulators have a tendency to be a rough ride for me as a whole, as many times even when I can appreciate their novelty I just can’t justify sinking much time into them.
