Sometimes the gameplay is a little too easy, but most times it is just right and I appreciate that. The story is good for one playthrough and is a fairly easy completion. The world is interesting through and through while players seek to unravel the intricacies of it and it’s inhabitants.

The dev-team has nailed the formula, almost to the point where each game seems to use a default template but they edit it with new characters and vary the puzzles slightly. Even so, I’ve yet to grow tired of the tried and true gameplay formula.

While Artifex Mundi has fixed some of the most glaring issues of previously released titles, Eventide still misses the one key element that can take it to the next level: characters and stories. Eventide is fun, but mostly forgettable, with little to no replayability. I really hope that the next release is more substantial, filled with extra exciting puzzles and a narrative worth my time.

As a stand-alone title, there are plenty of puzzles to enjoy here, and the game is very user-friendly as well (not to mention an easy target for trophy hunters). If you enjoy the genre and those things are a plus for you, this can still be a title worth picking up.
