Dollhouse had me from the get-go with its fascinating ‘Noir’ design and interesting story of mystery. Creazn Studio went into this game with amazing ideas, and where some of them paid off well, others seemed to have fallen on their face. I felt that by the time I was up to the third chapter, everything felt very repetitive, the visuals may be different but the core gameplay mechanics of what to do in each level was very much the same. I do feel the game could be salvaged with updates but it would take quite a bit to turn this into a game which is solid from start to finish. Outside of it being repetitive though, it was fun to play! The voice acting was very well done and the atmosphere always felt very tense and surprising.

Putting together what I thought was good and what I thought was bad I’m probably very half and half regarding the Dollhouse, I believe if I managed to play the multiplayer it could have massively affected my view on the game, but as it becomes very much repetitive and less scary it kind of knocks off the horror effect, I did enjoy the mystery side along with the thrill-filled ( at times ) chases! so I will be awarding the Dollhouse the Thumb Culture Silver Award!

The feeling of tension and anxiety and fear of what might lurk around the corner are hallmarks of the horror genre. But eventually those feelings will fade when you realize the monster is usually behind you, and it’s the story that needs to do the heavy lifting. Dollhouse hits that point early and often because of its repetitive gameplay. The true enjoyment from Dollhouse is found not in its empty environments or repetitive tasks, but in slowly piecing together the history of the characters in the story. But it doesn’t change the fact that by the end, I just wanted it to be over. This is one movie that you shouldn’t rush to the theater to see. - THE GOOD - Interesting story Cool noir motif Multiple levels of difficulty so anyone can play - THE BAD - Repetitive gameplay PS2 era graphics Sparse environments - 5.5 - Mediocre Review Summary Dollhouse is a game that seems like a lot of thought went in for some aspects but not others.

Dollhouse begins with a lot of potential, but after a few levels of repetitive gameplay, the horror elements start to lose their impact. What starts as a trip through a disturbed mind quickly becomes monotonous, and Marie's story suffers as a result.
