Demon Skin - is a brutal hack’n’slash set in a rough dark fantasy world, which combines unique combat mechanics, RPG and fighting game elements, and even some platformer features. With its versatile combat system you can fight enemies in both hardcore mode, changing battle stances and weapons in time, and in casual mode, slashing monsters left and right.

Demon Skin has done an immense job of bringing a lot of complexity to the 2D hack’n’slash genre. The story may not be too detailed but the focus of this game is on the atmospheric level and character design and the hellish combat mastery. If you want a short but challenging 2D game which looks great and puts your reflexes to the test, then this is a solid game to pick up. This game was tested and reviewed on Xbox Series X/S.

When Demon Skin works, it works pretty well – it’s a nice-looking title with an interesting story and some combat mechanics that set it apart from other similar games. Unfortunately, its missteps are just too impactful on the overall experience to ignore. If you have the patience of a saint, you might find enough here to enjoy. If time is at a premium, and you don’t fancy the slog, I just can’t recommend it. A real shame. Demon Skin is available now on PC through Steam. Demon Skin isn’t a bad game, but it is ropey and certainly needed more work where the animations and menus are concerned.
