Despite the minor issues I mentioned above, nothing could bring down my experience with Demon’s Mirror. This is an extraordinary rogue-like deckbuilder with clever implementation of chain-3 mechanics. Not only is it wholly engrossing and addictive, but it’s also really well-balanced. If you are at all a fan of this genre, you owe it to yourself to pick this up right now.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by Demon’s Mirror. Whether you’re a hardcore deck-builder fan, or just a casual gamer looking for a fun experience, this game will not disappoint. The combat mechanics are immensely diverse and one could easily sink hours upon hours replaying runs. The game also comes with masterful art direction that is just clean and beautiful all around. Demon’s Mirror is a bit short, but it never overextends itself, which ultimately leaves the player wanting more. Be-Rad Entertainment has done a great job with this game and has certainly set itself up to expand upon it.

Because of the unique way that the game blends the effects of its cards with its gem board, it took me a run or two to really understand what was going on. After that, though, I began to appreciate how well the gameplay mechanics work together and really started to enjoy the game. If you enjoy games like this, like me you’ll probably find yourself playing just one more battle until you find that you’ve just put a few hours into the game. Final Rating: 88% - Match-3 matches up quite well with card battles. Note: A review code for Demon's Mirror was provided by the publisher.

It makes Demon’s Mirror a harmony of interlocking systems that all shine brightest when you’re forced to bounce between each one to make the most efficient turn. The cards may be more simplistic than Slay the Spire, but that’s only because having the board involved adds so much innate complexity. If you try to always have a game like this on hand to kill some time, then Demon’s Mirror is a great addition to your rotation, offering you something familiar while bringing ideas to the table that no one else in the genre has.

Ultimately, I found Demon’s Mirror to be a compelling and addictive experience – even if it could be a bit tough in places. Its clever blend of deck building and match-three mechanics feels refreshing and unique for the genre, which does it a lot of favours given how oversaturated it can be. Demon’s Mirror does enough to stand out though, and despite the occasional stressful moments, it has that “just one more try” appeal that kept me coming back for more.

Demon's Mirror is a good roguelike deckbuilder, though be prepared to keep in mind all sorts of complex mechanics and attacks coming your way, lest your run comes to an untimely end.
