Overview

Behold the fierce blend of "Warriors" and "Berserk"! The action of cutting through hundreds of enemies, fundamental to the Warriors series, is fused together with the dark and gruesome atmosphere of the world of "Berserk", making various heretofore unseen acts possible, such as using a giant man-sized sword to cut enemies in half, as well as smash or send them flying with the "Slash" and "Smash" actions.

Berserk and the Band of the Hawk is Omega Force's latest Warriors-styled experience based off an anime. The brutal nature of the battlefield feels right at home as you move from one fight to the next with the once-young man named Guts exploring his life through its veritable rollercoaster of ups and downs. Any fan of Omega Force's Warriors series will feel right at home with Berserk.

Berserk and the Band of the Hawk is amazing. It’s perfect for fans of series, it’s perfect for fans of the Warriors franchise, it’s perfect for gamers looking for a fun “mature” game that isn’t Call of Duty. It’s hard to imagine a manga that filled me with horror so many times, filling me with such joy as a game, but it does. Get this game, if only to open the door to a darker generation of Warriors games.

The lack of multiplayer holds Berserk and the Band of the Hawk back from being the greatest Omega Force title, but players who are okay with this will find an experience that both captures the soul of the source material as well as one of the purest, most hyperviolent, titles to hit the market.

Berserk and the Band of the Hawk captures the essence of the series in spectacular fashion. Ultimately, these minor flaws detract very little from the brilliance of the game as a whole.

Berserk and the Band of the Hawk is the pinnacle of musou games, as far as I’m concerned. Omega Force and Koei Tecmo have experimented with the formula for years, and everything they’ve learned and perfected has led up to this game. Berserk Musou gives you the addictive, outrageous hack-and-slash combat musou games have had for ages. It gives you the unique characters and varied mission structures that musou games have only had in the last few years. And on top of that it gives you a gripping, mature, and masterful narrative that a musou game has never had. Until now.

Even though Berserk and the Band of the Hawk isn’t the best way to experience the Berserk story, its story is so in-depth that it would still be a great way to experience it for the first time. Even though it is largely based on the newer anime movies, it has the pacing of the original anime series, because the player gets to go through all of The Band of the Hawk’s campaigns as they rise through the ranks.

Berserk and The Band of The Hawk is certainly a nice change from the regular Dynasty Warriors games- It was a pleasant surprise and something I greatly enjoyed. The source material makes for a very entertaining story in the main campaign mode, and it kept me playing for several hours straight at a time! There is a lot of content and plenty of extra modes to keep you playing for a while… not to mention a Platinum trophy that will certainly require dozens of hours to secure!
