Bendy and the Dark Revival

Outside of the combat and questionable controls at times, I was immersed in the world and plan to revisit by playing Bendy and the Ink Machine. This is a good example of not judging a book by its cover, or in my case, a Funko Pop at GameStop.

Despite its weaknesses, Bendy and the Dark Revival remains a worthy sequel to Bendy and the Ink Machine, and is a contender that can likely stand up to some of 2022's best horror games. Better still, at $29.99 USD, the game is very fairly priced. Sure to appeal to new and returning players alike, Bendy and the Dark Revival is a compelling, well-crafted game that's worth playing for horror fans. Bendy and the Dark Revival is a great example of a sequel improving upon its predecessor in almost every way. For survival horror fans or fans of 50s cartoons, Bendy is a must-play.

Bendy and the Dark Revival shows a lot of potential with interesting world-building but is held back by some dull gameplay mechanics. Despite several constraints, there is an interesting series here that has a lot of potential within it, but it needs to find its identity and figure out what it wants to be.

Joey Drew Studios has created a memorable nightmare world of maniacal ‘toons and the dark side of creativity. While its combat and mechanics don’t reach the same level as its setting and narrative, Bendy and the Dark Revival is a must-play for fans of the first game, and an effective introduction to a singular franchise for everyone else.

While original Bendy fans will certainly get the most out of it, it was difficult to feel invested as a newcomer with the clunky combat and forced stealth sections. That said, the world is created quite well and has a great atmosphere, I just didn’t feel all that invested and become frustrated at times with the backtracking.

Dark Revival creates an interesting world and it has a unique art style, but the gameplay itself comes up short. While there are some imaginative locations and enjoyable moments, overall it’s the kind of game that you’ll play through more because you’re interested in how it all turns out than you are in the journey to get there.
